Sand-casting uses a special type of sand that has a clay like consistency to create a mold into which the sliver is poured. The technique is time and labor intensive and by nature yields each piece one of a kind in a unique matte finish. Sand-casting is one of the most difficult jewellery making techniques to master and dates back to the mid 17th century.
